Our Smiles Ahead Team members, including Allie the Alligator, have been very busy visiting Pointe Coupee Head Start Students.
This past fall, all 4 Head Start Programs in Pointe Coupee Parish received a visit from our team. The students learned all about good oral health practices including the proper way to brush their teeth.
Our team performed over 80 oral health assessments on the students. They also applied fluoride varnish for cavity prevention. In Pointe Coupee Parish, the water is not fluoridated putting our children at high risk for oral health issues. Fluoride varnish is a proven and recommended best practice that is effective in reducing decay in the primary teeth of high-risk children.
The Smiles Ahead Program has been educating students and providing preventative oral hygiene care to students in Pointe Coupee Parish for over 10 years. Want to know more about Smiles Ahead? Click here to read more!
